SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 11

A RESOLUTION
To commend Renee Lee Ward upon receiving the Milken Family Foundation Educator
Award and for her dedicated service to the students at Delhi Charter School.
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend and congratulate Renee Lee Ward upon
her receipt of the highly prestigious Milken Family Foundation Educator Award and to
recognize her outstanding contributions to her students, her school, and her community; and
WHEREAS, celebrating the twenty-fourth anniversary of the awards program, the
Milken Educator Award provides public recognition and financial rewards to elementary and
secondary school teachers, principals, and other education professionals who are furthering
excellence in education in the hopes of attracting, retaining, and motivating talented and
creative people to a career of teaching in the classroom; and
WHEREAS, criteria for selection include exceptional educational talent as evidenced
by outstanding instructional practices in the classroom, school, and profession; outstanding
accomplishment and strong long-range potential for professional and policy leadership; and
an engaging and inspiring presence that motivates and impacts students, colleagues, and the
community; and
WHEREAS, Renee Lee Ward, a Master Teacher at Delhi Charter School, is a former
first grade teacher with eleven years of experience, who has used her knowledge and
experience in the classroom to analyze standardized tests of students and benchmark data
to identify the areas of strength and weakness of her students; and
WHEREAS, as a Master Teacher, Ms. Ward uses research-based teaching strategies
to support other teachers at the charter school; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Ward is held in the highest regard by her students and colleagues
for her remarkable ability to motivate students to succeed beyond their own expectations and
because she has consistently demonstrated a dedicated spirit and an intense determination
to improve the quality of education in Louisiana; and SR NO. 11 ENROLLED

WHEREAS, the members of the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana wish to
express utmost gratitude and respect for the exemplary strides Renee Lee Ward has taken
in the molding of young minds and for the joy and pride she brings to her entire community
for being honored with this most significant and unforgettable achievement; and
WHEREAS, Renee Lee Ward joins a distinguished group of educators honored by
the Milken Family Foundation who continue their service and are dedicated to elevating
their profession and affecting the policies that shape their classrooms and schools; and
WHEREAS, Renee Lee Ward merits a sincere measure of commendation for her
dedication to excellence in education as an exceptional teacher at Delhi Charter School.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby commend Renee Lee Ward of Delhi Charter School upon receiving a Milken
Educator Award, does hereby recognize and record for posterity her extraordinary
contributions to the education of the youth of Louisiana and her unparalleled legacy of
dedication and excellence in education, and does hereby wish Ms. Ward every measure of
success and happiness in her future endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
Renee Lee Ward.
