SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 116
BY SENATOR MURRAY 
A RESOLUTION
To commend Sherri McConnell for her service to the state of Louisiana, upon her
resignation from the Louisiana Department of Economic Development, Office of
Entertainment.
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend Sherri McConnell as she resigns from her
position as the Director of the Office of Entertainment, where she served the people of the
state of Louisiana with dedication and distinction; and 
WHEREAS, Sherri McConnell began her career with the Office of Entertainment on
February 5, 2007; and 
WHEREAS, under her guidance the state's entertainment industry has now
experienced its fifth consecutive year of growth; and 
WHEREAS, because of Sherri McConnell's aggressive pursuit of Digital Media
incentives, Louisiana now boasts over 103,000 professionals with a background in software
development or digital media; and 
WHEREAS, due to Sherri McConnell's drive and vision, Louisiana is number three
in the country for the number of movie and film productions shot in the state, with over 300
motion pictures being shot in Louisiana; and 
WHEREAS, Sherri McConnell's commitment in capturing and spotlighting
Louisiana's indigenous creative class led to the creation of the nation's first tax incentive
package focused solely on the creation, growth and expansion of the live concert and
theatrical industries; and
WHEREAS, recognizing the opportunity to put Louisiana musicians to work, Sherri
McConnell and the Office of Entertainment developed an incentive program that allowed
our musicians to stay in Louisiana and remain a treasured cultural asset to the state; and  SR NO. 116	ENROLLED

WHEREAS, as result of her and the Office of Entertainment's untiring efforts,
Louisiana has become known as the place for all things entertainment, which has generated
more than $2 billion in new revenue and spurred the creation of thousands of high wage
jobs, state of the art infrastructure development and new business opportunities. 
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby commend Sherri McConnell for her years of dedicated service to the people of
the state of Louisiana and thanks her for her exemplary service. 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
Sherri McConnell.
