Page 1 of 2 Regular Session, 2011 ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 126 BY SENATOR AMEDEE A RESOLUTION To commend Edmond E. Kinler Jr. for his lengthy career of exemplary public service as clerk of court for the parish of St. James and to congratulate him on his retirement. WHEREAS, it is with great pride that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana recognizes the dedicated service provided by Clerk of Court Edmond "Clerk" Kinler to document property ownership within the parish and to preserve judgments of the courts, among the many duties of his office; and WHEREAS, with use of the most up-to-date digital media, Edmond Kinler insures the preservation, content, and availability of crucial data entrusted to his care; and WHEREAS, Edmond Kinler is a lifelong resident of the parish, born from the union of Edmond Sr. and Anita Laiche Kinler on July 24, 1940; and WHEREAS, he was an excellent student at Lutcher High School and upon graduation enlisted in the United States Army, and was honorably discharged from military service; and WHEREAS, he began his public service in parochial government in 1961, working as a deputy clerk of court under Elmore Boudreaux; and WHEREAS, Edmond Kinler was first elected clerk of court in 1972 and has served the people of St. James Parish with continued commitment to efficiency and integrity, elected for ten consecutive terms, seven of which were unopposed; and WHEREAS, Edmond Kinler has maintained the trust and support of the parish for the last forty years and he is known affectionately by associates, family, and friends alike as "Clerk"; and WHEREAS, "Clerk" acts as the ad-hoc historian of St. James Parish with a remarkable wealth of knowledge of its history, family genealogy, and noteworthy events that have affected those who live in the area; and WHEREAS, "Clerk" is one of the few, if not the only, Clerk of Court in the state of SR NO. 126 ENROLLED Page 2 of 2 Louisiana that personally signs and stamps pleadings filed in his office; and WHEREAS, Edmond married the love of his life, Diane Roussel, in October 1961, and they celebrated forty-nine years together until her passing in November 2010; and WHEREAS, "Clerk" surrounds himself with a bevy of friends and relatives, along with his three children and four grandchildren; and WHEREAS, with his years of public service experience "Clerk" exemplifies all of the finest qualities of a proficient, parochial government administrator. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Edmond E. "Clerk" Kinler Jr., Clerk of Court for St. James Parish for his many years of distinguished public service and congratulates him on his retirement. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to Edmond E. "Clerk" Kinler Jr. PRESIDENT OF THE SENATE
