SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 128

A RESOLUTION
To express the sincere condolences of the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana to the
members of Mount Sariah Baptist Church, of Cotton Valley, Louisiana, who suffered
from the fatal car wreck on June 12, 2011.
WHEREAS, Mount Sariah Baptist Church of Cotton Valley, Louisiana, whose
mission is to "Serve God By Serving the Community" under the leadership of Pastor John
J. Harris III makes every effort to make the lives of the members, their families, and
neighbors better in every way; and
WHEREAS, providing a place that is filled with love and guidance to the youth of
the community is a foremost priority of the church, and the membership makes every effort
to fill the hearts and minds of their children with happy times and good memories and in an
effort to fill that mission, the church planned a youth trip to a water park in Texas on June
12, 2011; and
WHEREAS, tragically, as the happy children and their chaperones headed back to
Cotton Valley that evening, one of the church van tires blew out, causing the vehicle to roll
over and ejecting several of the passengers; and
WHEREAS, ten of the passengers were injured, including youth director Arnese
Parish, who was pinned in the vehicle and is now paralyzed from the neck down, and
seventeen year old J'Marco Greenard, a recent graduate of Cotton Valley High School, who
lost his life; and
WHEREAS, it is with heartfelt sadness that the people of Louisiana grieve with the
suffering families and friends of those who were injured in the tragic accident on June 12,
2011, especially those of Arnese Parish and J'Marco Greenard. SR NO. 128 ENROLLED

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby extend its sincere condolences to the victims of the June 12, 2011 accident, and
to all the members of Mount Sariah Baptist Church and their families, and does hereby
extend its thoughts and prayers so that they may have the strength and faith to overcome
their grief and sadness.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to
Mount Sariah Baptist Church.
