SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 13
BY SENATOR WALSWORTH 
COMMENDATIONS.  Commends Miss Louisiana Outstanding Teen for 2010, Brook
Hotard, for her successful reign.
A RESOLUTION1
To commend Brook Hotard on her reign as Miss Louisiana Outstanding Teen for 2010, and2
to recognize Tuesday, May 26, 2011, as Miss Louisiana Organization Day at the3
Louisiana Senate.4
WHEREAS, in June 2010, Brook Hotard competed with many other accomplished5
young women from across Louisiana and was crowned Miss Louisiana Outstanding Teen;6
and7
WHEREAS, in the year that followed, she represented her state at the national levels8
as she spread increased awareness among Americans about the terrible effects that9
Alzheimer's disease has on many of the elderly in our country; and10
WHEREAS, Brook Hotard is a junior at St. Joseph's Academy in Baton Rouge which11
is just across the Mississippi River from her home town of Port Allen, and she has excelled12
there with a 4.3 GPA and is a member of the National Honor Society, the Honor Roll and13
was a Middle School Honors Graduate at St. Aloysius School; and14
WHEREAS, Brook has proved to be a real leader in her remarkable life, serving as15
president of her school's Speech and Debate Team and participating in the 2009 National16
Speech and Debate Competition; and17
WHEREAS, Brook also found time to serve as vice president of her school's Drama18 SR NO. 13

Club, president of the Spanish Club, Middle School Student Body President and a member1
of the Girl Scouts; and2
WHEREAS, during her reign as Miss Louisiana Outstanding Teen, Brook raised3
funds for the Alzheimer's Association in "A Walk to Remember" and the "Fishing for4
Memories" rodeo, while also finding time to visit "Children Miracle Network" hospitals,5
speaking to Girl Scout troops, volunteering for Habitat for Humanity, raising funds for Child6
Abuse Awareness, and serving as Grand Marshall of the Alexandria Children's Parade; and7
WHEREAS, Brook's special entertainment talents helped her in the lead role in a8
production of South Pacific, performing in To Kill A Mockingbird, Fiddler on the Roof, and9
Music Man and choreographing musical numbers in the 2009 Miss Southeastern Pageant;10
and11
WHEREAS, Brook Hotard honors Louisiana in the Miss America Organization, the12
world's largest competitive scholarship program for young women, helping the Miss13
Louisiana Scholarship Organization raise six hundred thirty-four thousand dollars in cash14
and tuition scholarships.15
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana16
does hereby extend its highest commendations to Brook Hotard, Miss Louisiana Outstanding17
Teen for 2010, for her many accomplishments and talents and further wishes her continued18
success in future endeavors.19
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana20
hereby recognizes Tuesday, May 5, 2011, as Miss Louisiana Organization Day at the21
Louisiana Senate.22
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to23
Brook Hotard.24
