Page 1 of 3 Regular Session, 2011 ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 135 BY SENATOR MILLS A RESOLUTION To commend and congratulate Peggy Chautin and Wildie Roberts for eighty-two years of dedicated service with the Farmers Merchants Bank & Trust Company. WHEREAS, Peggy Chautin worked for Farmers Merchants Bank & Trust Company for forty years, starting as a bookkeeper at the main branch in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, at the age of twenty-nine, and also serving as a teller at the main branch during her early years with the bank; and WHEREAS, in 1972, she moved to the Arnaudville branch and worked as a teller for eighteen years before transferring back to the main branch where she trained to be part of the lending department and worked as a loan officer for the next four years, 1991-1995; and WHEREAS, in January, 1996, Peggy Chautin returned to Arnaudville as a branch manager/loan officer and remained there until her retirement on December 31, 2010; and WHEREAS, she is married to Lester Chautin and they have two daughters, three sons, eleven grandchildren, and two great-grand children; and WHEREAS, since retirement, Peggy and her husband have enjoyed traveling, visiting their children and their families, and regular Bouree' card games with her friends; and WHEREAS, Peggy Chautin is a lifelong resident of Arnaudville, Louisiana, where she graduated as valedictorian from Arnaudville High School; attended the University of Southwestern Louisiana when she began her banking career, and completed the Banking Industry Educational Program offered there; and WHEREAS, she is a member of the St. Francis Regis Catholic Church in Arnaudville, serves on the Altar Society, and is a trustee of the church; and WHEREAS, Peggy Chautin is a lifelong Arnaudville community school volunteer; SR NO. 135 ENROLLED Page 2 of 3 has served as treasurer/accountant for the Arnaudville community Etouffee Festival and as a director on the board and treasurer of the Arnaudville Area Chamber of Commerce; and is very involved in "Teen City", a community organization with a membership devoted to benefitting the community and the town of Arnaudville; and WHEREAS, she was recently honored with the 2011 Female Citizen of the Year Award by the Arnaudville Area Chamber of Commerce; and WHEREAS, Wildie Roberts has completed forty-two years of dedicated service for Farmers Merchants Bank & Trust Company and will formally retire on June 30, 2011; and WHEREAS, she began work at the bank on July 1, 1969, as a teller and was soon promoted to head-teller, and as such, became vault keeper; and WHEREAS, Wildie Roberts was personally trained by Farmers Merchants Bank President, Mr. Thomas Perioux, to handle the accounts payable responsibilities within the bank, and in addition, she posted stocks for the bank and took care of all the bank details assigned to her by the bank's president; and WHEREAS, in 1984, she semi-retired to position of bank teller only, which was "the joy of her life" and during her years of service in the banking industry, Wildie loved being a teller which allowed her to assist people on a regular basis; and WHEREAS, she has one son, Ed Champagne, Jr. who is married to Kathy Champagne and the couple have three children--Angie, Denise and David; and Wildie has five great-grand children and is expecting another; and WHEREAS, Wildie Roberts is a past council member for St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breaux Bridge, Louisiana, and currently serves as a Eucharistic Minster and a member of the Catholic Daughters of America, the Altar Society and the St. Bernard Rosary Group; and WHEREAS, she is also active in the Breaux Bridge Homemakers Club and is an outstanding baker and is noted for her specialty cakes: chocolate almond, strawberry, carrot, orange mandarin, coconut, triple chocolate and lemon. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana hereby commends and congratulates Peggy Chautin and Wildie Roberts for eighty-two years of dedicated service with the Farmers Merchants Bank & Trust Company.
