A RESOLUTION1 To commend and congratulate Beauregard Parish Registrar of Voters Evelina Smith upon2 her retirement on June 30, 2011.3 WHEREAS, Evelina Smith began her public service in 1963, as an employee in the4 Allen Parish Registrar of Voters office; and5 WHEREAS, she moved to the Beauregard Parish Registrar of Voters office in 1971;6 and7 WHEREAS, Evelina Smith became the Beauregard Parish Registrar of Voters in8 1983; and9 WHEREAS, during her public service which spans six different decades, she has10 assisted thousands of Louisiana citizens register to exercise their privilege to vote in11 countless elections; and12 WHEREAS, she is the loving, caring, dedicated wife of Leonard Smith for almost13 fifty years; and14 WHEREAS, Evelina Smith is very proud of her three children and five15 grandchildren; and16 WHEREAS, as an active member of St. Joseph's Catholic Church in DeRidder and17 past member of the Parish Council, she was recognized as the Evangelizer of the Year by18 SR NO. 147 SLS 11RS-2989 ORIGINAL Page 2 of 2 the Bishop of the Lake Charles Diocese in 1998; and1 WHEREAS, Evelina Smith has volunteered much of her time to the Beauregard2 Association of Retarded Citizens; and3 WHEREAS, her lifetime of public service, dedication to family, community, and4 faith is an example to others. 5 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana6 does hereby commend and congratulate Beauregard Parish Registrar of Voters Evelina7 Smith upon her retirement.8 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to9 Beauregard Parish Registrar of Voters Evelina Smith.10 The original instrument and the following digest, which constitutes no part of the legislative instrument, were prepared by Alan Miller.
