Page 1 of 2 Regular Session, 2011 ENROLLED SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 151 BY SENATORS ERDEY, LAFLEUR, ADLEY, ALARIO, AMEDEE, APPEL, BROOME, CHABERT, CHAISSON, CHEEK, CLAITOR, CROWE, DONAHUE, DORSEY, GAUTREAUX, GUILLORY, HEITMEIER, JACKSON, KOSTELKA, LONG, MARIONNEAUX, MARTINY, MCPHERSON, MICHOT, MILLS, MORRELL, MORRISH, MOUNT, MURRAY, NEVERS, PERRY, PETERSON, QUINN, RISER, SHAW, SMITH, THOMPSON, WALSWORTH AND WILLARD-LEWIS A RESOLUTION To express the sincere condolences of the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana upon the death of Kimberly "Kim" McElveen Sledge. WHEREAS, it is with great sadness that the citizens of the state of Louisiana have learned of the untimely death of Kimberly McElveen Sledge, a resident of Denham Springs, at the age of forty-four; and WHEREAS, Kim was born on September 15, 1966, and was shot and killed on June 7, 2011, while performing her duties as a fraud investigator with the Louisiana Department of Insurance; and WHEREAS, she was an eleven year employee with the department, having begun her career in October 2000 in the health division and, subsequently, with the fraud section; and WHEREAS, Kim was slain while attempting to collect case information from an insurance agent in Ville Platte during the course of an investigation; and WHEREAS, she is preceded in death by her father, John E. McElveen, and is survived by her husband, John Sledge; her daughter, Brittany Warren; her mother, Carol Caston McElveen; her sisters, Rhonda Jordan and Melanie Farrow; her stepdaughter, Averie Sledge; and her stepson, Jacob Sledge; and WHEREAS, she will be remembered by her friends, family, and colleagues as a country girl who loved the outdoors, working in her yard, and caring for her animals; and WHEREAS, the citizens of Louisiana lost a unique individual who left an indelible mark upon the lives she touched, and her passing has created a genuine sense of profound sorrow; and SR NO. 151 ENROLLED Page 2 of 2 WHEREAS, the memory of Kimberly McElveen Sledge will remain eternal in the hearts and minds of her family and friends, and shall live forever in the minds and hearts of all who knew and loved her. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby express sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the death of Kimberly McElveen Sledge, does hereby recognize the ultimate sacrifice she made for the state of Louisiana, and does hereby extend enduring appreciation for the pride and honor that she will forever bring to her family, friends, colleagues, community, and the state of Louisiana. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the family of Kimberly McElveen Sledge. PRESIDENT OF THE SENATE
