SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 32
BY SENATOR WALSWORTH 
CONDOLENCES. Extends the condolences of the Louisiana Senate upon the death of
Neville High Football Coach Charlie Brown.
A RESOLUTION1
To express the sincere condolences of the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana upon the2
death of Neville High Football Coach Charlie Brown.3
WHEREAS, Coach Charlie Brown coached the Neville High School football team4
for thirty seasons, leading his players to three state championship titles and three other5
championship games; and6
WHEREAS, Coach Brown would take his beloved Tiger football team to eleven7
district crowns as head coach; and8
WHEREAS, Coach Brown served twelve years as an assistant coach to another9
legendary coach, Bill Ruple, playing a major role as the Tigers won four more state titles;10
and11
WHEREAS, Coach Brown compiled a record as Tiger head coach of 236-66-6,12
making him the all-time sixth most winning coach in the state of Louisiana and cementing13
his place in Louisiana sports history; and14
WHEREAS, Coach Brown possessed such unique athletic talents that he also led the15
Neville High School Tiger Baseball Team to an incredible four state titles as their head16
coach; and17
WHEREAS, Coach Brown would ultimately be inducted into the Louisiana High18 SR NO. 32

School Sports Hall of Fame in 1987 and the Louisiana Sports Hall of Fame in 2001, after a1
career that spanned from 1963 to 1992; and2
WHEREAS, Coach Brown would also be inducted into the Louisiana Sportswriters3
Hall of Fame in 2001; and4
WHEREAS, in his forty-three years of close association with the Neville High5
School community, Coach Brown truly had a powerful and positive influence on athletics6
in Northeast Louisiana; and7
WHEREAS, a new football field house being built at Neville High School will be8
named in honor of Coach Brown; and9
WHEREAS, Coach Brown trained and prepared hundreds of football players who10
would go on to greatness in the college and professional ranks, thanks to his dedication and11
concern as their coach.12
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana13
does hereby recognize Neville High School Football Coach Charlie Brown for his gridiron14
greatness and extends its deepest condolences to his family, friends, loved ones and players15
for the loss of such a giant.16
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the17
family of Coach Charlie Brown and to Neville High School.18
