SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 37
BY SENATORS MARIONNEAUX, ADLEY, ALARIO, AMEDEE, APPEL, BROOME, CHABERT,
CHAISSON, CHEEK, CLAITOR, CROWE, DONAHUE, DORSEY, ERDEY, GAUTREAUX,
GUILLORY, HEITMEIER, JACKSON, KOSTELKA, LAFLEUR, LONG, MARTINY, MCPHERSON,
MICHOT, MILLS, MORRELL, MORRISH, MOUNT, MURRAY, NEVERS, PERRY, PETERSON,
QUINN, RISER, SHAW, SMITH, THOMPSON, WALSWORTH AND WILLARD-LEWIS
A RESOLUTION
To express the sincere condolences of the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana upon the
untimely death of Louisiana National Guard Staff Sergeant Stacey Groves and honors
her brave and dedicated service to our state and nation.
WHEREAS, Staff Sergeant Groves was a native of New Orleans, grew up most of her
life in Baton Rouge, and resided in Gonzales; and
WHEREAS, she was active in the National Guard for nine years, and served in Iraq
with the 415
th
 Military Intelligence Battalion, and was currently serving on the 62
nd
 Civil
Support Team; and
WHEREAS, Staff Sergeant Groves loved serving her country, she loved spending time
with her National Guard buddies, and she loved her military family with all her heart; and
WHEREAS, she will always be remembered as a strong and brave woman and soldier
that endured and conquered many things in her young life; and
WHEREAS, Staff Sergeant Groves loved to fish, cook and grill, have friends over to
barbeque, listen to bands play, shop for girly shoes with her best friend Stacey, shoot guns,
and play X-Box and Guitar Hero; and 
WHEREAS, she was working toward earning her college degree, and teaching herself
how to play the electric guitar; and
WHEREAS, Staff Sergeant Groves passed away on Tuesday, November 2, 2010, at
the age of twenty seven; and
WHEREAS, it is with the deepest regret and most profound sorrow the Senate has
learned of her tragic and untimely death; and SR NO. 37	ENROLLED

WHEREAS, Staff Sergeant Groves conducted herself bravely and with great
distinction and will be sadly missed and forever remembered in the hearts and minds of all
of those that knew and loved her.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana does
hereby express a profound sense of loss and sends its heartfelt condolences from a grateful
state and nation to the family and friends of Louisiana National Guard Staff Sergeant Stacey
Groves.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
family of Staff Sergeant Stacey Groves.
