SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 41
BY SENATORS MARIONNEAUX, ADLEY, ALARIO, AMEDEE, APPEL, BROOME, CHABERT,
CHAISSON, CHEEK, CLAITOR, CROWE, DONAHUE, DORSEY, ERDEY, GAUTREAUX,
GUILLORY, HEITMEIER, JACKSON, KOSTELKA, LAFLEUR, LONG, MARTINY, MCPHERSON,
MICHOT, MILLS, MORRELL, MORRISH, MOUNT, MURRAY, NEVERS, PERRY, PETERSON,
QUINN, RISER, SHAW, SMITH, THOMPSON, WALSWORTH AND WILLARD-LEWIS 
A RESOLUTION
To express the sincere condolences of the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana to the
family of United States Marine Corps Lance Corporal Dakota Huse upon his death
while serving his country in its armed forces.
WHEREAS, Lance Corporal Dakota Huse was a native of Greenwood, Louisiana,
and was a 2009 graduate of Huntington High School where he excelled in sports, especially
wrestling and soccer, was in Junior ROTC, and was very dedicated and involved in many
activities and programs including student council and science club; and
WHEREAS, Lance Corporal Huse was always a happy child and had many friends,
was very compassionate, dependable, hard working, and had a thirst for knowledge; and 
WHEREAS, reading was a favorite activity of Lance Corporal Huse, and he loved
Harry Potter and Lord of the Rings books, and was on his way to finishing the Percy Jackson
book series; and
WHEREAS, Lance Corporal Huse, wanting to serve and protect his nation and its
people, joined the Marine Corps in high school and was eventually assigned to the 2
nd
Battalion, 9
th
 Marine Division, II Marine Expeditionary Force stationed in Camp Lejeune,
North Carolina; and 
WHEREAS, Lance Corporal Huse was kind, giving, and very dedicated to his
family, and his mother Donna Huse said, "He is and will always be my baby, my marine, and
the man I always knew he could be"; and 
WHEREAS, he was very loved by his family and had a special bond with his Paw
Paw Henry who taught him how to build things and work with his hands as a child, and his
sisters Lesley, Samantha, and Sabrina, brother Dusty, grandmother Diane, and aunt Melinda;

WHEREAS, Lance Corporal Huse was born on December 3, 1990, and went to be
with the Lord and his paw paw at the age of 19 on November 9, 2010, in Helmand Province,
Afghanistan, due to injuries sustained from an IED while on foot patrol; and
WHEREAS, friends and family of Lance Corporal Huse mourn the loss of a son,
brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend who paid the ultimate sacrifice, and this state
and country mourns the loss of a truly great American hero. 
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana
does hereby extend its deepest and most profound condolences to the family of United States
Marine Corps Lance Corporal Dakota Huse for their great loss and for his faithful service
to his country during its Global War On Terrorism.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the
family of Lance Corporal Dakota Huse.
