SENATE RESOLUTION NO. 89
BY SENATOR CHAISSON 
COMMENDATIONS.  Commends Senator Julie Quinn on years of distinguished public
service.
A RESOLUTION1
To commend the Honorable Julie Quinn and to express enduring gratitude for her2
outstanding contributions to the people of Senate District 6 and the state of3
Louisiana, particularly during her tenure as a distinguished member of the Louisiana4
Legislature.5
WHEREAS, an outstanding student, Julie Quinn is a graduate of Slidell High School,6
then went on to receive a degree from Louisiana State University before pursuing a law7
degree from Loyola Law School, where she graduated at the top of her class and served on8
the Moot Court and as a board member of the Loyola Law Review and was twice named a9
teaching assistant in legal research and writing; and10
WHEREAS, although she began a private practice as an attorney after graduating11
from law school, she never lost sight of the importance of providing quality education to the12
children of this state, and thus began her distinguished career in public service when she was13
elected to the Jefferson Parish School Board, where she served four years;14
WHEREAS, in July 2005, Julie Quinn was chosen by the people to represent them15
as the District 6 State Senator during a special election, and she has proven herself a16
champion of the people, earning recognition as "Legislator of the Year" by the United States17
Humane Society, the Louisiana Childcare Association, the Louisiana Orthopedic18 SR NO. 89

Association, the Louisiana Chiropractic Association, the Louisiana Nurse Anesthetists, and1
has been named into the Louisiana Family Forum's Hall of Fame for her pro-family voting2
record; and3
WHEREAS, a leading advocate for Louisiana's children and families, and a vigorous4
proponent of insurance reform, particularly in helping the victims of Hurricane Katrina, she5
serves on the Senate Insurance and Education committees, and as chairman of the Senate6
Judiciary A Committee, as well as the Select Committee on Technology and the Select7
Committee for Women and Children; and8
WHEREAS, although she is a committed public servant, she is first and foremost the9
loving and proud mother of two sons, and devotes all her free time to her children; and10
WHEREAS, as she prepares to begin the next exciting and productive chapter of her11
life, Senator Quinn merits a sincere measure of commendation for her singular contributions12
and the exemplary strides she has taken as an exceptional member of the Louisiana13
Legislature.14
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Senate of the Legislature of Louisiana15
does hereby commend the Honorable Julie Quinn and express enduring gratitude for her16
outstanding contributions to Orleans, Jefferson, St. Tammany, and Tangipahoa parishes and17
the state of Louisiana.18
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the19
Honorable Julie Quinn.20
