AN ACT1
To amend and reenact R.S. 18:1314(E), relative to absentee by mail and early voting2
commissioners; to provide relative to the compensation of such commissioners; to3
provide for effectiveness; and to provide for related matters.4
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5
Section 1.  R.S. 18:1314(E) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows: 6
ยง1314.  Absentee by mail and early voting commissioners7

E. Compensation.  An absentee by mail and early voting commissioner who9
serves on election day or during the counting and tabulating of provisional ballots10
shall receive fifty dollars or one hundred dollars for each day he serves. as provided11
below:12
(1) He shall receive one hundred dollars for elections for which the secretary13
of state has approved such compensation. The secretary of state may provide such14
approval upon application by the parish board of election supervisors when it is15
reasonably expected that a large number of persons will vote prior to election day.16
(2) He shall receive fifty dollars for elections other than those provided for17
in Paragraph (1) of this Subsection.18

Section 2. This Act shall become effective upon signature by the governor or, if not20
signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature21
by the governor, as provided by Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana.  If22 ENROLLEDHB NO. 1036

vetoed by the governor and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become1
effective on the day following such approval.2
