FISHING/CATFISH: Provides relative to the creel limit for blue or channel catfish on
Toledo Bend
AN ACT1
To amend and reenact R.S. 56:325(A)(11)(b), relative to recreational fishing; to provide for2
take and size limits for blue or channel catfish in Toledo Bend Reservoir; and to3
provide for related matters.4
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5
Section 1. R.S. 56:325(A)(11)(b) is hereby amended and reenacted to read as6
follows:7
ยง325. Daily take, possession, and size limits; freshwater recreational fish8
A. No person shall take in any one day more than the following of each9
species of fish, of the designated size where specified:10

(11)(a) Except as provided in Subparagraph (b) of this Paragraph, the12
maximum possession limit for catfish caught on a recreational license shall be one13
hundred. The one hundred fish possessed may be a single species or any14
combination of blue, channel, or flathead catfish. In addition, a recreational15
fisherman shall be allowed a daily possession limit of twenty-five undersize catfish,16
either a single species or any combination of blue, channel, or flathead catfish.17
(b) From July 1, 2004 through June 30, 2008, the maximum possession limit18
for catfish caught in Toledo Bend Reservoir on a recreational license shall be one19

addition, a recreational fisherman on Toledo Bend Reservoir shall be allowed a daily1
possession limit of fifty undersize catfish which may be any combination of species2
of catfish. On Toledo Bend Reservoir, a person fishing on a recreational license3
shall not have in his possession more than ten blue or channel catfish over twenty4
inches long.5

Abstract: Allows possession of ten 20 inch or greater blue or channel catfish on Toledo
Bend Reservoir.
Present law limits the possession of blue or channel catfish on Toledo Bend Reservoir to an
aggregate of 50 fish with no more than five over 20" long.
Proposed law would increase the limit of those over 20" long to ten.
