HOUSE BILL NO. 1140

APPROPRIATIONS/JUDGMENT:  Appropriates funds for payment of judgment in the
matter of "Earl Truvia v. State of La."
AN ACT1
To appropriate funds out of the General Fund of the state of Louisiana for Fiscal Year 2012-2
2013 to be used to pay the judgment for additional benefits for wrongful3
incarceration in the suit entitled "Earl Truvia v. State of Louisiana"; and to provide4
for related matters.5
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:6
Section 1. The sum of Sixty-Five Thousand and No/100 ($65,000.00) Dollars is7
hereby appropriated out of the General Fund of the state of Louisiana for Fiscal Year 2012-8
2013 to be used to pay the judgment for additional benefits for wrongful incarceration in the9
suit entitled "Earl Truvia v. State of Louisiana", bearing Number 487-447 "F" on the docket10
of the Criminal District Court, parish of Orleans, state of Louisiana.11
Section 2. This Act shall become effective on July 1, 2012; if vetoed by the governor12
and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become effective on July 1,13
2012, or on the day following such approval by the legislature, whichever is later. 14
