HOUSE BILL NO. 276
BY REPRESENTATIVE PYLANT
APPROPRIATIONS/JUDGMENT:  Appropriates funds for payment of judgment against
the state in the matter of "Stephen and Lori Davis, et al v. DOTD" consolidated with
"Christina Wiley, et al v. DOTD" consolidated with "Amanda Townsend, et al v.
DOTD"
AN ACT1
To appropriate funds out of the General Fund of the state of Louisiana for Fiscal Year 2012-2
2013 to be used to pay the judgment in the suit entitled "Stephen and Lori Davis,3
individually and as administrators of the succession of Cody Thompson Davis v.4
State of Louisiana, Department of Transportation and Development" consolidated5
with "Christina Wiley, individually and on behalf of her minor children v. State of6
Louisiana, Department of Transportation and Development" consolidated with7
"Amanda Townsend, and on behalf of her minor child v. State of Louisiana,8
Department of Transportation and Development"; to provide for interest; to provide9
for court costs; and to provide for related matters.10
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:11
Section 1. The sum of Sixty-Five Thousand Seventy and 25/100 ($65,070.25)12
Dollars in favor of Stephen Davis and the sum of Ninety-Three Thousand Seven Hundred13
Fifty and No/100 ($93,750.00) Dollars in favor of Lori Davis, plus legal interest from14
August 29, 2008, until paid, plus court costs; the sum of Twenty-Five Thousand and No/10015
($25,000.00) Dollars in favor of Christina Wiley, the sum of One Hundred Fifty Thousand16
and No/100 ($150,000.00) Dollars in favor of Christina Wiley, as natural tutrix of the minor,17
Chance Alex Wiley, and the sum of One Hundred Fifty Thousand and No/100 ($150,000.00)18
Dollars in favor of Christina Wiley, as natural tutrix of the minor, Melanie Wiley, plus legal19
interest from May 8, 2009, until paid, plus court costs; and the sum of One Hundred Fifty20 HLS 12RS-692	ORIGINAL

Thousand and No/100 ($150,000.00) Dollars in favor of Amanda Townsend, as natural tutrix1
of her minor son, Landon Townsend, plus legal interest from June 17, 2009, until paid, plus2
court costs; is hereby appropriated out of the General Fund of the state of Louisiana for3
Fiscal Year 2012-2013 to be used to pay the judgment in the suit entitled "Stephen and Lori4
Davis, individually and as administrators of the succession of Cody Thompson Davis v.5
State of Louisiana, Department of Transportation and Development" consolidated with6
"Christina Wiley, individually and on behalf of her minor children v. State of Louisiana,7
Department of Transportation and Development" consolidated with "Amanda Townsend,8
and on behalf of her minor child v. State of Louisiana, Department of Transportation and9
Development", bearing Numbers 25,319-"B", 25,621-"A", and 25,674-"A", respectively, on10
the docket of the Seventh Judicial District Court, parish of Catahoula, state of Louisiana.11
Section 2. The judgment provided for in Section 1 hereof shall be deemed to have12
been paid on the effective date of this Act and legal interest shall cease to run as of that date.13
Section 3. This Act shall become effective on July 1, 2012; if vetoed by the governor14
and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become effective on July 1,15
2012, or on the day following such approval by the legislature, whichever is later. 16

"Christina Wiley, et al v. DOTD" c/w "Amanda Townsend, et al v. DOTD", bearing Nos.
25,319-"B", 25,621-"A", and 25,674-"A", respectively, on the docket of the 7th JDC, parish
of Catahoula.
Effective July 1, 2012.
