HOUSE BILL NO. 284
BY REPRESENTATIVE PUGH
APPROPRIATIONS/JUDGMENT:  Appropriates funds for partial payment of judgment
against the state in the matter of "Jean Boudreaux and the Victims of the Flood of
April 6, 1983, on the Tangipahoa River v. State of La., et al"
AN ACT1
To appropriate funds out of the General Fund of the state of Louisiana for Fiscal Year 2012-2
2013 to be used as a partial payment toward the final judgment in the suit entitled3
"Jean Boudreaux and the Victims of the Flood of April 6, 1983, on the Tangipahoa4
River v. State of Louisiana, et al"; and to provide for related matters.5
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:6
Section 1. The sum of Six Million and No/100 ($6,000,000.00) Dollars is hereby7
appropriated out of the General Fund of the state of Louisiana for Fiscal Year 2012-2013,8
which shall be payable to Hancock Bank, as escrow agent for Boudreaux v. Louisiana9
Department of Transportation, into escrow account number 1097000229, which has been10
established to receive, and for the credit of, any partial payment of the judgment rendered11
in the class action suit entitled "Jean Boudreaux, et al v. State of Louisiana, Department of12
Transportation and Development, et al", bearing Number 71,408 on the docket of the13
Twenty-First Judicial District Court, parish of Tangipahoa.14
Section 2. The partial payment of the judgment provided for in Section 1 hereof shall15
be deemed to have been paid on the effective date of this Act.  16
Section 3. This Act shall become effective on July 1, 2012; if vetoed by the governor17
and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become effective on July 1,18
2012, or on the day following such approval by the legislature, whichever is later. 19 HLS 12RS-514	ORIGINAL
