INSURANCE DEPARTMENT:  Changes the length of the Bail Bond Apprenticeship
Program in the Dept. of Insurance
AN ACT1
To amend and reenact R.S. 22:1574(B) and (D)(1), relative to the Bail Bond Apprentice2
Program in the Department of Insurance; to provide relative to the duration of the3
program; and to provide for related matters.4
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5
Section 1. R.S. 22:1574(B) and (D)(1) are hereby amended and reenacted to read as6
follows: 7
ยง1574.  Bail Bond Apprentice Program8

B. The Bail Bond Apprentice Program shall consist of six three consecutive10
months of employment by a Louisiana Department of Insurance licensed bail bond11
producer. The apprentice shall be supervised by the producer during the 	six-month12
three-month period and work for no less than twenty-four hours per week.  The13
apprentice shall observe the bail bond producer, perform every phase of the bail bond14
business, and shall perform duties in every phase of the bail bond business except for15
the solicitation, negotiation, quotation of fees, and the execution of a bail bond.16

D.(1) Upon completion of the required six three months of work experience,18
without expulsion, the apprentice and the supervising bail bond producer shall19

completed all of the requirements of the apprentice program.  This form shall be a1
notarized sworn affidavit, completed under penalty of perjury.2

Abstract: Changes the duration of the Bail Bond Apprentice Program from six months to
three months.
Present law provides for a Bail Bond Apprentice Program whereby a licensed bail bond
producer employs and trains an apprentice for six consecutive months.
Proposed law changes the duration of the program from six consecutive months to three
consecutive months; otherwise retains present law.
