ACT No. 80 Regular Session, 2012 HOUSE BILL NO. 320 BY REPRESENTATIVE DANAHAY AN ACT1 To enact R.S. 25:151(B)(4) and (C)(3), relative to the Calcasieu Parish Library; to provide2 relative to the disposition of surplus library books; to authorize the library, subject3 to the approval of its governing board, to sell such books; to provide relative to the4 disposition of proceeds collected from such sales; to provide relative to the location5 of such sales; and to provide for related matters.6 Notice of intention to introduce this Act has been published7 as provided by Article III, Section 13 of the Constitution of8 Louisiana.9 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:10 Section 1. R.S. 25:151(B)(4) and (C)(3) are hereby enacted to read as follows: 11 ยง151. Public libraries; disposition of unused books; purpose; definitions12 * * *13 B.14 * * *15 (4)(a) The Calcasieu Parish Library, subject to the approval of the Calcasieu16 Parish Library Board of Control, may sell any superseded, obsolete, or otherwise17 unnecessary book in the possession of the library to any hospital, correctional18 facility, public or private institution, nonprofit organization, adult education19 program, youth organization, school, or individual.20 (b) The proceeds collected from the sale of library books pursuant to21 Subparagraph (a) of this Paragraph shall be remitted to the Calcasieu Parish Library22 Board of Control and shall be used exclusively for the maintenance, operation, and23 support of the Calcasieu Parish Library.24 ENROLLEDHB NO. 320 Page 2 of 2 CODING: Words in struck through type are deletions from existing law; words underscored are additions. C.1 * * *2 (3) The Calcasieu Parish Library may dispose of books as provided in3 Paragraph (B)(4) of this Section by making such books available for purchase at a4 convenient location to be determined by the Calcasieu Parish Library Board of5 Control.6 * * *7 Section 2.
