MILITARY AFFAIRS: Authorizes occupational licensing boards to approve the use of out-
of-state licenses for spouses of military personnel while stationed in Louisiana
AN ACT1
To enact R.S. 37:24, relative to professions and occupations; to authorize the use of out-of-2
state licenses for spouses of military personnel while stationed in Louisiana; to3
provide for rulemaking authority; to provide for an effective date; and to provide for4
related matters.5
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:6
Section 1.  R.S. 37:24 is hereby enacted to read as follows: 7
ยง24. Licensure exception for spouses of active duty military stationed within the8
state9
A.  Each agency, board, or commission authorized to issue an occupational10
or professional license, permit, or certificate may approve the use of out-of-state11
licenses for the spouse of an individual serving in the armed forces of the United12
States while the individual is stationed within this state, provided:13
(1) The spouse holds a valid license to practice a regulated occupation or14
profession issued by any other state or jurisdiction recognized by this state.15
(2) The license is current, and the spouse is in good standing in the state of16
licensure.17
B. Each agency, board, or commission may promulgate the necessary rules,18
in accordance with the Administrative Procedure Act, to implement the provisions19

Section 2. This Act shall become effective upon signature by the governor or, if not1
signed by the governor, upon expiration of the time for bills to become law without signature2
by the governor, as provided by Article III, Section 18 of the Constitution of Louisiana.  If3
vetoed by the governor and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become4
effective on the day following such approval.5

Effective upon signature of governor or lapse of time for gubernatorial action.
