HOUSE BILL NO. 394

APPROPRIATIONS/JUDGMENT:  Appropriates funds for payment of judgment in the
matter of "Gerald Burge v. State of La."
AN ACT1
To appropriate funds out of the General Fund of the state of Louisiana for Fiscal Year 2012-2
2013 to be used to pay the consent judgment in the suit entitled "Gerald Burge v.3
State of Louisiana"; and to provide for related matters.4
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5
Section 1. The sum of One Hundred Fifty Thousand and No/100 ($150,000.00)6
Dollars is hereby appropriated out of the General Fund of the state of Louisiana for Fiscal7
Year 2012-2013 to be used to pay the consent judgment awarding compensation for8
wrongful conviction in the suit entitled "Gerald Burge v. State of Louisiana", bearing9
Number C557608, Section "23", on the docket of the Nineteenth Judicial District Court,10
parish of East Baton Rouge, state of Louisiana.11
Section 2. This Act shall become effective on July 1, 2012; if vetoed by the governor12
and subsequently approved by the legislature, this Act shall become effective on July 1,13
2012, or on the day following such approval by the legislature, whichever is later. 14
