HOUSE BILL NO. 449

PUBLIC BUILDINGS/GROUNDS: Authorizes the Caddo Parish School Board to name a
building at Shreve Island Elementary School in honor of Kerry Laster, Ph.D.
AN ACT1
To authorize the Caddo Parish School Board to name a building at Shreve Island Elementary2
School in honor of Kerry Laster, Ph.D.; and to provide for related matters.3
Notice of intention to introduce this Act has been published4
as provided by Article III, Section 13 of the Constitution of5
Louisiana.6
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:7
Section 1. The Caddo Parish School Board may name a building at Shreve Island8
Elementary School in Shreveport, Louisiana, in honor of Kerry Laster, Ph.D.9

Abstract: Authorizes the Caddo Parish School Board to name a building at Shreve Island
Elementary School in Shreveport in honor of Kerry Laster, Ph.D.
Present law provides that no public building, public bridge, public park, public fish or game
preserve, or public wildlife refuge owned by the state or by any political subdivision of the
state or by any institution receiving its support in whole or in part from the state shall be
named in honor of any living person, except as authorized or provided by law.
Proposed law authorizes the Caddo Parish School Board to name a building at Shreve Island
Elementary School in Shreveport in honor of Kerry Laster, Ph.D.
