Regular Session, 2012 HOUSE BILL NO. 662 BY REPRESENTATIVE HARRISON SCHOOLS: Requires BESE to provide for a social services program in all public schools AN ACT1 To enact R.S. 17:7(33), relative to the powers and duties of the State Board of Elementary2 and Secondary Education; to require the board to develop, adopt, and provide for the3 implementation of a social services program in public schools; to provide for the4 training and placement of social services advisors in each school; and to provide for5 related matters.6 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:7 Section 1. R.S. 17:7(33) is hereby enacted to read as follows: 8 ยง7. Duties, functions, and responsibilities of board9 In addition to the authorities granted by R.S. 17:6 and any powers, duties, and10 responsibilities vested by any other applicable laws, the board shall:11 * * *12 (33) Develop, adopt, and provide for the implementation of a social services13 program for use in all public elementary and secondary schools. Proposed law adds to present law a requirement that BESE develop, adopt, and provide for the implementation of a social services program for use in all public elementary and secondary schools.
