TRANSPORTATION DEPT:  Provides relative to topographical mapping
AN ACT1
To amend and reenact R.S. 48:36, relative to topographic mapping; to provide for mandatory2
development and maintenance of a statewide digital geospatial database; and to3
provide for related matters.4
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5
Section 1.  R.S. 48:36 is hereby amended and reenacted to read as follows:6
ยง36.  Topographic mapping7
A. The department may shall develop and maintain a statewide digital8
geospatial database. The department shall act as authority for geographic names, set9
standards for the mapping of topographic features, and plan and manage data10
collection for incorporation into a statewide database. Rules and regulations shall11
be promulgated by the department in accordance with the Administrative Procedure12
Act as are necessary for the planning and managing of the geospatial data.13
B. The department shall submit a written report to the House and Senate14
committees on transportation, highways, and public works providing for a program15
and plan of implementation for the development and maintenance of a statewide16
digital geospatial database as required by Subsection A of this Section no later than17
