HOUSE BILL NO. 703

ENVIRONMENT:  Provides relative to environmental inspections of certain industrial sites
AN ACT1
To enact R.S. 30:2034, relative to closure of certain facilities; to provide for inspections; to2
require an updated closure plan; and to provide for related matters.3
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:4
Section 1.  R.S. 30:2034 is hereby enacted to read as follows:5
ยง2034.  Closure of facilities6
Prior to one hundred twenty days before the anticipated closure of any7
permitted facility with an acreage of two hundred or more, located within four miles8
of any municipality with a population of three hundred thousand or greater, and in9
continuous operation since 1969, the department shall conduct an inspection of such10
facility and require the facility to update its closure plan to address any deficiencies11
or compliance orders prior to the closure.12

Abstract: Require the Dept of Environmental Quality to inspect certain facilities prior to
closure and require updates of those facilities' closure plan.
Proposed law requires DEQ to inspect, prior to 120 days before an anticipated closure, any
permitted facility with an acreage of 200 or more, located within four miles of any
municipality with a population of 300,000 or greater, and in continuous operation since
