FUNERALS & FUNERAL HOMES:  Authorizes an individual to construct a burial
container for personal use
AN ACT1
To enact R.S. 37:854, relative to funerals; to authorize the construction of a burial container2
for personal use or the use of another person; to define burial container; and to3
provide for related matters.4
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5
Section 1. R.S. 37:854 is hereby enacted to read as follows:6
ยง854.  Burial container; right to construct7
Nothing in this Chapter shall be construed to prohibit a person's right to8
construct a burial container for personal use or the use of another person if9
constructed free of charge.  For the purposes of this Section, "burial container"10
means a container which is designed for the encasement of human remains for11
interment, including but not limited to a coffin or casket.12

right to construct a burial container for personal use or the use of another person if
