CRIMINAL/PROCEDURE: Authorizes courts in Ouachita Parish to recall arrest warrants
in certain circumstances
AN ACT1
To enact Code of Criminal Procedure Article 202.1, relative to courts in Ouachita Parish; to2
authorize all courts in Ouachita Parish to recall a warrant for arrest if a person3
appears before the court to receive a new court date within a certain time frame; to4
provide for notice requirements; to prevent any person from having a warrant5
recalled more than one time; and to provide for related matters.6
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:7
Section 1. Code of Criminal Procedure Article 202.1 is hereby enacted to read as8
follows: 9
Art. 202.1. Warrant of arrest; recall; notice10
A. In all courts within the parish of Ouachita, there shall be one month as11
determined by each court where any person who may have an outstanding warrant12
for arrest may appear before the proper court to have a new court date issued without13
any penalty, liability, or arrest. The person shall sign proper notice to appear in court14
on the newly set court date and the warrant for arrest shall be recalled.15
B. A person shall only be allowed one recall pursuant to this Article for each16

Abstract: Authorizes all courts in Ouachita Parish to recall an arrest warrant issued for any
person who appears before the proper court during a certain time frame to request
and sign proper notice for a new court date.
Proposed law requires all courts in Ouachita Parish to provide one month for any person to
appear before a court to request a new court date and have a warrant for arrest recalled by
the court without penalty.
Proposed law requires the person to sign proper notice for the newly scheduled court date.
Proposed law provides that a person shall only be allowed one recall for each warrant for
arrest.
