Regular Session, 2012 HOUSE BILL NO. 886 BY REPRESENTATIVE BARROW TRAFFIC: Provides for penalties for texting while driving AN ACT1 To amend and reenact R.S. 32.300.5(C)(1), relative to the penalties for texting while driving2 a motor vehicle; to increase the maximum fine for a first violation; and to provide3 for related matters.4 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5 Section 1. R.S. 32:300.5(C)(1) is hereby amended and reenacted as follows:6 ยง300.5. Present law provides that the first violation of the present law shall be punishable of a fine of not more than $175. Proposed law increases the maximum to $300. (Amends R.S. 32:300.5(C)(1))
