Regular Session, 2012 HOUSE BILL NO. 997 BY REPRESENTATIVE PUGH PRIVATE INVESTIGATORS: Changes membership of the La. State Board of Private Investigator Examiners AN ACT1 To amend and reenact R.S. 37:3504(B) and (D), relative to the Louisiana State Board of2 Private Investigator Examiners; to provide for membership; to provide for an3 effective date; and to provide for related matters.4 Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5 Section 1. R.S. 37:3504(B) and (D) are hereby amended and reenacted to read as6 follows: 7 ยง3504. Louisiana State Board of Private Investigator Examiners; creation;8 qualifications; domicile; terms of office; confirmation; oath of office;9 compensation 10 * * *11 B. The board shall be composed of seven members appointed by the12 governor. One member shall be appointed from each of the five public service13 commission districts as established by law and shall be a resident of the district from14 which he is appointed. The governor shall appoint one licensed attorney to serve on15 the board from the state at large and one member from the state at large appointed16 from a list of names submitted by the board of directors of the Louisiana Private17 Investigators Association who shall be a private citizen with no financial or familial18 relationship to the private investigator industry. No more than two3 board members may be employed by or affiliated with the same agency. The initial4 board members shall not be required to be licensed but shall obtain a license within5 one hundred eighty days after appointment to the board. Each subsequent member6 shall be a licensed private investigator.7 * * *8 D. Each member shall serve at the pleasure of the governor. a term of four9 years. No person shall serve more than two terms, whether consecutive or not.10 Each appointment by the governor shall be submitted to the Senate for confirmation.11 * * *12 Section 2.
