HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 111
BY REPRESENTATIVE DOVE
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON
To recognize Friday, June 8, 2012, as "A Day of Giving" and to commend volunteers
throughout the state of Louisiana.
WHEREAS, many citizens throughout the state engage in volunteer activities for the
betterment of the great state of Louisiana; and
WHEREAS, throughout the history of the Pelican State, citizens have actively
volunteered their time, talents, and energy to improve their communities and to make the
state a welcoming place; and
WHEREAS, countless residents of communities throughout Louisiana enhance the
quality of life of others by volunteering with service organizations, schools, places of
worship, hospitals, youth groups, and other organizations that benefit their fellow citizens;
and
WHEREAS, the untiring work and dedication of volunteers, while certainly
appreciated, too often goes without adequate recognition; and
WHEREAS, the Terrebonne Parish Council has recognized June 8, 2012, as "A Day
of Giving" in recognition of volunteerism, and it is fitting that citizens statewide follow the
example of Terrebonne Parish and set aside a special day in celebration of the state's
volunteers.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
recognize Friday, June 8, 2012, as "A Day of Giving" and does hereby commend volunteers
throughout the state for their dedication to serving the greater good of their communities and
the state of Louisiana. ENROLLEDHCR NO. 111

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to the president of Terrebonne Parish.
