HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 127

VETERANS: Provides relative to the employment of veterans returning from service
A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON1
To urge and request all Louisiana companies to offer every reasonable accommodation for2
employment to returning veterans.3
WHEREAS, the citizens of Louisiana recognize that unselfishly protecting the4
United States during times of war and peace through service in the nation's armed services5
should be honored as the highest form of patriotism; and6
WHEREAS, the United States military currently has many Americans serving with7
valor and fortitude on foreign soil and on the homefront; and8
WHEREAS, the nation continues to lose armed service personnel, who have9
exhibited courage and gallantry in the face of utmost danger; and10
WHEREAS, many American families have been disrupted by the call of their11
husbands, wives, sons, daughters, and other family members to active duty in the endeavor12
to protect the United States and its allies; and13
WHEREAS, these families know that their lives will forever be changed and that14
some may not be able to once again enjoy the company of their brave and patriotic loved15
ones; and16
WHEREAS, injuries sustained as a result of combat affect not only service personnel17
and their families but also the communities in which military families live; and18
WHEREAS, returning service men and women need well-paying jobs to provide for19
the families that these American heroes fought so honorably to protect; and20 HLS 12RS-3520 ORIGINAL

WHEREAS, the bravery and boldness displayed by our valorous veterans in the1
defense of freedom is a proud example of the American spirit in which all Louisianians take2
pride; and 3
WHEREAS, it is only fitting that the companies who gain security and stability from4
the sacrifices made by the military make every effort to offer every reasonable5
accommodation for employment to these American heroes.6
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby7
urge and request Louisiana companies to offer every opportunity to our returning veterans8
and offer them every reasonable accommodation for employment and does hereby express9
enduring gratitude to veterans who have made enormous sacrifices to ensure the safety of10
American citizens and the prosperity of American businesses.11
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted12
to the executive director of the Louisiana Workforce Commission and the secretary of the13
Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs.14
