ENROLLED Page 1 of 2 Regular Session, 2012 HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 127 BY REPRESENTATIVE COX A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON To urge and request all Louisiana companies to offer every reasonable accommodation for employment to returning veterans. WHEREAS, the citizens of Louisiana recognize that unselfishly protecting the United States during times of war and peace through service in the nation's armed services should be honored as the highest form of patriotism; and WHEREAS, the United States military currently has many Americans serving with valor and fortitude on foreign soil and on the homefront; and WHEREAS, the nation continues to lose armed service personnel, who have exhibited courage and gallantry in the face of utmost danger; and WHEREAS, many American families have been disrupted by the call of their husbands, wives, sons, daughters, and other family members to active duty in the endeavor to protect the United States and its allies; and WHEREAS, these families know that their lives will forever be changed and that some may not be able to once again enjoy the company of their brave and patriotic loved ones; and WHEREAS, injuries sustained as a result of combat affect not only service personnel and their families but also the communities in which military families live; and WHEREAS, returning service men and women need well-paying jobs to provide for the families that these American heroes fought so honorably to protect; and WHEREAS, the bravery and boldness displayed by our valorous veterans in the defense of freedom is a proud example of the American spirit in which all Louisianians take pride; and ENROLLEDHCR NO. 127 Page 2 of 2 WHEREAS, it is only fitting that the companies who gain security and stability from the sacrifices made by the military make every effort to offer every reasonable accommodation for employment to these American heroes. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby urge and request Louisiana companies to offer every opportunity to our returning veterans and offer them every reasonable accommodation for employment and does hereby express enduring gratitude to veterans who have made enormous sacrifices to ensure the safety of American citizens and the prosperity of American businesses. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted to the executive director of the Louisiana Workforce Commission and the secretary of the Louisiana Department of Veterans Affairs.
