ENROLLED Page 1 of 2 Regular Session, 2012 HOUSE CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON NO. 139 BY REPRESENTATIVE LEBAS A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON To commend the Barman's Fund New Orleans for its charitable contributions. WHEREAS, in December of 2011, the Barman's Fund New Orleans was organized by Holly Williams, who was inspired by friends who established a Barman's Fund in New York; and WHEREAS, the Barman's Fund New Orleans is made possible by bartenders in the Crescent City who donate tips to local charities, nonprofit organizations, and schools; and WHEREAS, organizations which have benefitted from the generosity of the Barman's Fund New Orleans include the New Orleans Women's Shelter, the New Orleans Faith Health Alliance, Raintree Children and Family Services, Hagar's House, the New Orleans Area Habitat for Humanity, A Child's Wish, and the Second Harvest Food Bank, among others, and donations from the fund have also gone toward worthy classroom projects in area schools; and WHEREAS, since its establishment, the Barman's Fund New Orleans has raised more than sixteen thousand dollars to help meet the needs of the citizens of the New Orleans area; and WHEREAS, the heartfelt generosity displayed by the Barman's Fund New Orleans is a shining example of the spirit of New Orleans in which all citizens of Louisiana take great pride; and WHEREAS, the Barman's Fund New Orleans merits a special measure of commendation for the tremendous honor it brings to the city of New Orleans and the state of Louisiana. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Barman's Fund New Orleans for its charitable contributions, does hereby extend enduring appreciation for the difference its participants are making in the lives of ENROLLEDHCR NO. 139 Page 2 of 2 their fellow citizens, and does hereby extend to these kindhearted and unselfish individuals best wishes for continued success in their future endeavors.
