A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON
To commend the Ragin' Cajuns of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette upon winning the
2011 New Orleans Bowl.
WHEREAS, on Saturday, December 17, 2011, our hearts and minds were in New
Orleans, Louisiana, where we experienced the conclusion of a fantastically enjoyable season
and witnessed the University of Louisiana at Lafayette (ULL) Ragin' Cajuns handily defeat
the San Diego State Aztecs 32-30 in the 2011 New Orleans Bowl; and
WHEREAS, on this great day, before a national television audience and a record
crowd of 42,841 fans at the Mercedes-Benz Superdome, ULL made its first appearance in
a bowl game since 1970; and
WHEREAS, the 2011 Ragin' Cajuns' win in the New Orleans Bowl improved ULL's
all-time record in bowl games to 2-1; and
WHEREAS, Coach Mark Hudspeth and his team exhibited tremendous
competitiveness and spirit in finishing the amazing 2011 season with an overall record of
9-4, tying ULL's school record for most wins in a season; and
WHEREAS, the Ragin' Cajuns' 5-0 record at home marked the first undefeated
season since 1987; and
WHEREAS, the remarkable talents and determination of every player on the 2011
ULL football team led to this outstanding season and its culmination in victory at the New
Orleans Bowl, but special recognition is deserved by quarterback, Blaine Gautier, whose ENROLLEDHCR NO. 28

New Orleans Bowl record four hundred seventy yards passing earned him the Most Valuable
Player award in the contest; and
WHEREAS, this incredible victory is an indelible part of an extraordinary era in the
history of ULL football and created a memory that will forever be cherished by ULL fans
in generations to come; and
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to recognize and express enduring appreciation for the
immense pride and honor that the 2011 ULL Ragin' Cajuns football team has brought to the
state of Louisiana.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
recognize the magnificent performance of the University of Louisiana at Lafayette Ragin'
Cajuns during the 2011 season and their success in the New Orleans Bowl and does hereby
commend and congratulate the players, the coaching staff, and the entire ULL football
family upon this historic victory.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to Coach Mark Hudspeth.
