A CONCURRENT RESOLUTI ON
To commend the Louisiana State University Tigers football team upon the memorable and
historic 2011 season.
WHEREAS, upon the completion of the 2011 season, it is appropriate that the
extraordinary achievements of the LSU Tigers football team be commended and celebrated;
and
WHEREAS, the remarkable talents and determination of every player on the 2011
LSU football team led to a berth in the national championship and provided the people of
the state of Louisiana with an unforgettable season of football; and
WHEREAS, for the first time in history, LSU finished the regular season with a
perfect undefeated record of 12-0; and
WHEREAS, the team celebrated its thirteenth consecutive victory of the season upon
defeating the University of Georgia Bulldogs by a score of 42-10 on December 3, 2011, at
the Georgia Dome in the Southeastern Conference Championship; and ENROLLEDHCR NO. 33

WHEREAS, in its thirteen thrilling victories of the season, LSU won all but one
game by a double-digit margin, and the team was ranked number one in the nation for a
school-record eleven consecutive polls; and
WHEREAS, this incredible season also produced five first-team All-Americans, two
national award winners, and a Heisman Trophy finalist, making it the most successful
football season in LSU history; and
WHEREAS, for his excellent leadership and singular achievements in coaching this
season, Coach Les Miles was named the Associated Press National Coach of the Year, the
Home Depot National Coach of the Year, the Liberty Mutual Coach of the Year, and the
Walter Camp Foundation Coach of the Year; and
WHEREAS, the feats of this team could not have been achieved without the
guidance and skills of the entire coaching staff as well as all of the other persons involved
with LSU's superb football program; and
WHEREAS, the special memories made during this season of football will never
fade in the hearts and minds of Tiger fans throughout the state, the country, and the world;
and
WHEREAS, LSU alumni and fans in Louisiana and beyond are anticipating another
exciting season, which kicks off in Death Valley on September 1, 2012.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby
commend the Louisiana State University Tigers football team for the memorable and historic
2011 season, does hereby congratulate the players, the coaches, and the entire LSU football
family, and does hereby extend best wishes for continued success in the future.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to Coach Les Miles.
