COMMENDATIONS:  Commends the Ruston High School cheerleaders upon their victory
in the Game Time Division of the 2012 National Cheerleader Association
championship
A RESOLUTION1
To commend the Ruston High School cheerleaders upon their memorable and historic2
victory in the Game Time Division of the 2012 National Cheerleader Association3
championship.4
WHEREAS, in January of 2012, the Ruston High School cheerleaders traveled to5
Dallas, Texas, to compete in the National Cheerleading Association championship, where6
they won first place in the Game Time Division for the second consecutive year; and7
WHEREAS, the highly competitive Game Time Division consists of the Timeout8
Cheer, the Timeout Dance, and the Fight Song Dance, and the squad excelled in all three9
events and received no penalty points; and10
WHEREAS, in addition to this prestigious national victory, the squad attained a third11
place ranking in the Non-Tumbling Division, won first place at regionals, and performed12
with excellence at the state championship, where they landed first place wins in the Non-13
Tumbling, Timeout Cheer, and Fight Song divisions; and14
WHEREAS, the competition team is made up of members of the varsity, junior15
varsity, and freshman cheer squads, and together they perform challenging stunts, dance16
routines, and cheers; and17
WHEREAS, the talented members of the competition squad performed at the highest18
level throughout the national competition, and each member deserves recognition for her19

Paige Williams, and Carrie Wilson; and6
WHEREAS, the amazing accomplishments of the team could not have been achieved7
without the guidance and skills of head coach Heather Reeder as well as all of the other8
individuals who contribute to the success of the school's cheerleading program, including9
assistant coaches Olivia Gordon, Abby Gordon, and Shelby Griffith; and 10
WHEREAS, the squad's outstanding victory upholds the glorious tradition of the11
Bearcats, and all Ruston High School alumni and fans recognize the immense pride and12
distinguished honor that the squad brings to its school, community, state, and nation.13
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the14
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the Ruston High School cheerleaders upon15
their memorable and historic victory in the Game Time Division of the 2012 National16
Cheerleader Association championship and does hereby extend best wishes to the17
cheerleaders, coaches, and everyone involved with this fine cheerleading program as they18
celebrate their exceptional achievements and prepare for continued success in the future.19
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted20
to Heather Reeder, head coach, and Mike Milstead, principal.21
