HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 102
BY REPRESENTATIVE KATRINA JACKSON
A RESOLUTION
 To commend Reverend Johnny Ray Turner, Sr., upon his installation as pastor of the Mount
Arack Baptist Church in Monroe, Louisiana.
WHEREAS, the faith community of the Mount Arack Baptist Church is celebrating
the installation of its beloved new pastor, Reverend Johnny Ray Turner, Sr.; and
WHEREAS, born on January 17, 1960, as the fourth of twelve children of the late
Phillip Turner, Sr., and Rosie Lee Turner, Reverend Johnny Ray Turner, Sr., is the devoted
husband of Linda J. Turner and the proud father of Tarneshala, Samehea, and Johnny, Jr.;
and
WHEREAS, Reverend Turner received his call to the ministry on April 13, 2008,
was ordained on November 14, 2010, and was selected as pastor of the Mount Arack Baptist
Church on March 30, 2012; and
WHEREAS, Reverend Turner served as under-shepherd at Mount Arack for one year
and three months before being elected as pastor, and during this time, his teachings brought
new converts to the fold and helped to increase attendance; and
WHEREAS, Reverend Turner has always been in the service of the Lord, having
served as a deacon for many years at his home church, Green Grove Baptist Church, and
singing in a Gospel quartet for more than twenty years; and 
WHEREAS, Reverend Turner has spent his life preparing for the role of making
disciples, and he is the cofounder of the Turners' nonprofit organization, Vessels by God's
Design, which is a family ministry; and
WHEREAS, Reverend Turner's compassionate and nurturing spirit follows the
leadership of Christ, and he is committed to doing the works of the Lord; and
WHEREAS, the scripture upon which Reverend Turner's uncompromising ministry
stands is Galatians 1:10-12, which declares, "For do I now persuade men, or God? Or do I ENROLLEDHR NO. 102

seek to please men? For if I yet pleased men, I should not be the servant of Christ. But I
certify you, brethren, that the Gospel which was preached of me is not after man. For I
neither received it of man, neither was I taught it, but by the revelation of Jesus Christ"; and
WHEREAS, on May 27, 2012, Reverend Turner's installation celebration is
beginning with morning worship and intercessory prayer at Mount Arack, and Reverend
Patrick Turner of Fort Worth, Texas, is serving as guest minister; and
WHEREAS, the installation services are being held that afternoon at the New St.
James Baptist Church, where Reverend William Armstrong is the pastor, and Reverend Al
Bartie, Jr., will bring the installation message; and 
WHEREAS, the Mount Arack Baptist Church community thrives as a unified
community of faith and fellowship, and Reverend Turner merits a special measure of
commendation for his exceptional leadership as his pastorship is commemorated.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby recognize and record for posterity the historic occasion
of the installation of Reverend Johnny Ray Turner, Sr., as pastor of the Mount Arack Baptist
Church in Monroe, Louisiana, does hereby commend and honor him for his dedication, does
hereby congratulate Reverend and Mrs. Turner and their family as they celebrate this most
significant and memorable event, and does hereby extend to the Turner family and the
congregation best wishes for richest blessings in their future endeavors. 
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to Pastor Johnny Ray Turner, Sr.
