HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 13
BY REPRESENTATIVES STUART BISHOP, BARRAS, NANCY LANDRY, TERRY
LANDRY, MONTOUCET, ORTEGO, PI ERRE, AND ROBIDEAUX
A RESOLUTION
To commend the St. Thomas More High School girls basketball team of Lafayette upon
winning the Class 4A state championship.
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend the St. Thomas More High School girls
basketball team upon the completion of a sensational 2011-2012 season and to congratulate
the players and coaches on winning the Class 4A state basketball championship; and
WHEREAS, the St. Thomas More Lady Cougars finished the season with an
exceptional overall record of 34-2; and
WHEREAS, the St. Thomas More Cougars defeated the Salmen Spartans by a score
of 56-39 at the Louisiana High School Athletic Association championship at the Thomas
Assembly Center in Ruston; and
WHEREAS, the Cougars' 2012 win over Salmen marks their second consecutive
state championship; and
WHEREAS, the members of the St. Thomas More High School girls basketball team
performed at the highest levels of excellence throughout the season, and each of these
intrepid Cougars deserves recognition for her vital contributions to the winning effort; and
WHEREAS, the victorious St. Thomas More High School girls basketball team
consists of Kourtney Blackwell, Lauren Olivier, Kia Wilridge, Paije Hall, Jodi Quinn,
Payton Walker, Allison Derise, Courtney Chain, and Keke Veal; and 
WHEREAS, the team's dedicated and skilled managers, Brittany Hanks, Margaret
Carey, and Alece Courville, also made important contributions to this unforgettable season;

WHEREAS, coaches Ashley Brodhead-Richard, Deacon Jones, and Kristopher Knox
have instilled in their players the kind of leadership and motivational skills needed to
succeed both on and off the court; and
WHEREAS, through its display of good sportsmanship and dedication to excellence,
the St. Thomas More High School girls basketball team has brought a tremendous sense of
honor and pride to its school and surrounding community.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the members of the St. Thomas More High
School girls basketball team of Lafayette for winning the Class 4A state basketball
championship, does hereby express sincere and heartfelt congratulations to the St. Thomas
More Lady Cougars in recognition of their outstanding athletic abilities and their thrilling
season, and does hereby extend to the team and its coaches best wishes for success in the
future.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to Ashley Brodhead-Richard, head coach of the St. Thomas More High School girls
basketball team.
