ENROLLED Page 1 of 2 Regular Session, 2012 HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 139 BY REPRESENTATIVE KATRINA JACKSON A RESOLUTION To commend Lieutenant Colonel Garry Hines of Monroe upon his retirement from the United States Army Reserves. WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend Lieutenant Colonel Garry Hines upon his retirement from the United States Army Reserves in June of 2012; and WHEREAS, the son of Curtis Junior Hines, Sr., and Ila Jackson of Fort Walton Beach, Florida, where he was born and raised, Garry Hines moved to Monroe, Louisiana, in 1975 to attend the University of Louisiana at Monroe on scholarship; and WHEREAS, in 1984, Lieutenant Colonel Hines graduated with a bachelor of arts degree in health and physical education with a minor in social studies; and WHEREAS, Lieutenant Colonel Hines made Louisiana his home, serving with great dedication, productivity, and effectiveness as an educator and coach in the Morehouse Parish School System and the School District of Monroe; and WHEREAS, Lieutenant Colonel Hines is married to Karen Collins Hines, is the father of Garrett Hines, and is a member of the Mount Olivet Baptist Church in Monroe; and WHEREAS, Lieutenant Colonel Hines continues to educate and train young people in athletics as a certified personal trainer, and he aspires to share his knowledge and passion for fitness as the owner of his own fitness center; and WHEREAS, the success of the state of Louisiana, the strength of its communities, and the overall vitality of American society depend, in great measure, upon citizens like Lieutenant Colonel Hines , who serves as an inspiration to others because of his integrity and strength of character; and WHEREAS, Lieutenant Colonel Garry Hines merits a special measure of commendation for the tremendous pride and honor he brings to his family and friends, the city of Monroe, the state of Louisiana, and the United States of America. ENROLLEDHR NO. 139 Page 2 of 2 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Lieutenant Colonel Garry Hines of Monroe upon his retirement from the United States Army Reserves, does hereby express enduring appreciation for his extraordinary contributions to his community, state, and nation, and does hereby extend best wishes for continued success and happiness in his future endeavors.
