HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 157

A RESOLUTION
To commend the West Monroe High School football team upon winning the 2011 Class 5A
state football championship game in the Louisiana Superdome in the Louisiana High
School Athletic Association State Farm Prep Classic.
WHEREAS, West Monroe's victory in the State Farm Prep Classic was the
culmination of an unforgettable season during which the Rebels defeated thirteen highly
talented opponents and suffered only two defeats on the road to the title; and
WHEREAS, the amazing accomplishments of the team could not have been achieved
without the guidance and skills of head coach Don Shows as well as all of the other
individuals who have contributed to the success of the school's football program; and
WHEREAS, the team's outstanding 2011 season upholds the glorious tradition of the
Rebels, and all West Monroe High School alumni and fans recognize the immense pride and
distinguished honor that the team brings to its school, community, and state; and
WHEREAS, with this victory, Class 5A West Monroe joins 2011 Class 1A
champions, Ouachita Christian High School, and Class 4A champions, Neville High School,
in bringing pride and honor to northeast Louisiana.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the West Monroe High School football team
upon winning the 2011 Class 5A state championship and does hereby extend best wishes to
the players, coaches, and everyone involved with this fine football program as they celebrate
their exceptional season and prepare for continued success in the future.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to Don Shows, head coach of the West Monroe High School football team.
