HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 16
BY REPRESENTATIVES ROBIDEAUX, BARRAS, STUART BISHOP, NANCY
LANDRY, TERRY LANDRY, MONTOUCET, ORTEGO, AND PI ERRE
A RESOLUTION
To commend the Lafayette High School girls basketball team upon winning the Class 5A
state championship.
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend the Lafayette High School girls basketball
team upon the completion of a sensational 2011-2012 season and to congratulate the players
and coaches on winning the Class 5A state basketball championship; and
WHEREAS, the Lafayette Lady Lions finished the season with a stellar overall
record of 35-0; and
WHEREAS, on Friday, March 9, 2012, the Lafayette Lady Lions defeated the
Southwood Lady Cowboys by a score of 39-32 at the Louisiana High School Athletic
Association championship at the Thomas Assembly Center in Ruston; and
WHEREAS, the Lady Lions' 2012 win over Southwood marks the team's first state
championship in school history; and
WHEREAS, the members of the Lafayette High School girls basketball team
performed at the highest levels of excellence throughout the season, and each of these
intrepid Lady Lions deserves recognition for her vital contributions to the winning effort;
and
WHEREAS, the victorious Lafayette High School girls basketball team consists of
Tylor Payne, Sabre' Sarradet, Adrienne Prejean, Luv Blackburn, Jasmine King, Annelise
Bonvillain, Kameron Melancon, Hannah Williams, Kortney Kling, Taylor Payne, Elizabeth
Owens, Brea Lando, Faith Flugence, and Armanee' Broussard, who was named the State
Farm Most Outstanding Player; and  ENROLLEDHR NO. 16

WHEREAS, head coach Cade Methvin, head assistant coach Casey Delhomme, and
assistant coach Dale Gauthier have instilled in their players the kind of leadership and
motivational skills needed to succeed both on and off the court; and
WHEREAS, through its display of good sportsmanship and dedication to excellence,
the Lafayette High School girls basketball team has brought a tremendous sense of honor
and pride to its school and surrounding community.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend the members of the Lafayette High School
girls basketball team for winning the Class 5A state basketball championship, does hereby
express sincere and heartfelt congratulations to the Lafayette Lady Lions in recognition of
their outstanding athletic abilities and their thrilling season, and does hereby extend to the
team and its coaches best wishes for success in the future.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to Cade Methvin, head coach of the Lafayette High School girls basketball team.
