HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 165
BY REPRESENTATIVES BARROW, CHAMPAGNE, HILL, HODGES, KATRINA
JACKSON, NANCY LANDRY, MORENO, NORTON, SMITH, ST. GERMAIN,
THIERRY, AND WHITNEY
A RESOLUTION
To commend Jacqueline "Jacqui" Vines of Baton Rouge on her work with the Louisiana
Legislative Women's Caucus and for her commitment to the development and
advancement of women and children in Louisiana.
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend Jacqueline "Jacqui" Vines for her
commitment to the development and advancement of women and children in Louisiana and
to recognize her vital contributions to the citizens of Louisiana as an active and dedicated
community servant; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Vines graduated from the University of Redlands with a bachelor
of science degree in business administration and management, and she is the mother of three
daughters, Raven, Maya, and Breyaunna; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Vines has nearly thirty years of experience in the
telecommunications industry; she began her career with Time Warner Cable in Dublin,
Ohio; she served as Cox's director of human resources in New Orleans, and she also served
as vice president and general manager for the Baton Rouge market; she then served as vice
president and regional manager for Cox Greater Louisiana; she currently serves as senior
vice president and general manager for Cox Louisiana; and
WHEREAS, it was recently announced that Ms. Vines will take the helm of Cox's
Southeast Region, a combined Louisiana, Florida, and Georgia system, effective January
2013; and 
WHEREAS, Ms. Vines was previously a member of Cox's national Diversity Council
and Blueprint Louisiana and the boards of Louisiana State University's Tiger Athletic
Foundation, the Baton Rouge Chamber, and the Baton Rouge Area Foundation; she served
as chair of the Louisiana Cable Telecommunications Association and on a special ENROLLEDHR NO. 165

commission empaneled by Governor Bobby Jindal to make recommendations pertaining to
higher education, and she has served on search committees for leadership positions at
Louisiana State University, Southern University, and the Baton Rouge Area Chamber; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Vines is currently a member of the Baton Rouge Rotary, the
Committee of 100, Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., Women in Cable and
Telecommunications, the National Association of Minorities in Cable, the Louisiana Cable
Telecommunications Association, Greater New Orleans, Inc., the New Orleans Pro Bono
Project, the Business Council of New Orleans, and the Regions Bank Regional Advisory
Board, and she serves as the president of the La Capitale Chapter of The Links, Inc.; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Vines has been honored with the 2011 Louisiana Legislative
Women's Caucus Women of Excellence Award in the category of media and public relations
for her outstanding professional achievements, highly productive community service,
exhibition of integrity and professionalism, personification of excellence in her area of
specialty, and commitment to better society as a whole; and
WHEREAS, Ms. Vines has received many other honors, including the 2010 Virgil
Evans Lifetime Achievement Award from the Louisiana Cable Telecommunications
Association, the 2008, 2009, 2010, and 2011 Most Influential Minorities in Cable Award
from Cable360, the Brotherhood/Sisterhood Award from 100 Black Men of Baton Rouge
in 2006, and the YWCA of Greater Baton Rouge's Women of Achievement Award in 2004;
and
WHEREAS, Ms. Vines merits a sincere and heartfelt measure of commendation for
her dedication to excellence and her outstanding accomplishments. 
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Jacqueline "Jacqui" Vines of Baton Rouge
for her work with the Louisiana Legislative Women's Caucus and for her commitment to the
development and advancement of women and children in Louisiana, does hereby recognize
and record for posterity her singular contributions to the citizens of Louisiana as an active
and dedicated community servant, and does hereby extend enduring appreciation for the
tremendous honor and pride that she brings to her family and friends, the city of Baton
Rouge, and the state of Louisiana. ENROLLEDHR NO. 165

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
