HLS 12RS-2666 ORIGINAL Page 1 of 3 Regular Session, 2012 HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 43 BY REPRESENTATIVE EDWARDS COMMENDATIONS: Commends members of the U.S. Army War College participating in the Eisenhower Series College Program and welcomes them to La. in April of 2012 A RESOLUTION1 To commend the members of the United States Army War College participating in the2 Eisenhower Series College Program and to welcome them to Louisiana in April of3 2012.4 WHEREAS, upon the memorable and historic occasion of their visit to the state of5 Louisiana, it is appropriate to commend and honor those from the United States Army War6 College participating in the Eisenhower Series College Program; and7 WHEREAS, the United States Army War College, located in Carlisle Barracks,8 Pennsylvania, represents the highest level of education offered by the military services and9 is designed to equip carefully selected senior officers and civilians with the competencies10 required of strategic leaders of the United States Armed Forces; and11 WHEREAS, approximately three hundred sixty students, including senior officers12 from all branches of the armed forces, senior civilian representatives from a variety of13 United States government agencies, and senior military officers from sixty-six foreign14 countries, attend a ten-month graduate-level course of study; and 15 WHEREAS, United States Army War College students examine national security16 issues and strategy development, regional affairs, current and future challenges for national17 defense, and the responsibilities of senior-level command, and students who successfully18 complete all the requisite requirements established by the Army War College for granting19 a degree are awarded the Master of Strategic Studies degree; and20 HLS 12RS-2666 ORIGINAL HR NO. 43 Page 2 of 3 WHEREAS, annually, several students at the United States Army War College1 participate in the Eisenhower Series College Program and travel outside Carlisle Barracks2 to engage in discussions with other students, academics, and the public about national3 security issues and the employment of military assets; and4 WHEREAS, for academic year 2012, participants in the Eisenhower Series College5 Program who are visiting Louisiana include program director Captain Stephen C. Krotow,6 Navy; Lieutenant Colonel (P) Tony R. Nesbitt, Army; Colonel Dave Morrissey, Air Force;7 Colonel Michael "Scotty" Patton, Army; and Lieutenant Colonel Brian Scott, Army; and8 WHEREAS, in April of 2012, Eisenhower Series College Program participants are9 sharing their unique knowledge with the citizens of Louisiana and visiting various education10 institutions, including Southeastern Louisiana University and the Louisiana State University11 Paul M. Hebert Law Center; and12 WHEREAS, the actions and commitment of these individuals uphold the highest13 traditions of the United States Armed Forces, and they bring tremendous pride to their14 families, their fellow citizens, and the United States of America; and15 WHEREAS, these individuals merit a special measure of commendation as they are16 welcomed with the utmost admiration and respect to the state of Louisiana.17 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the18 Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend members of the United States Army War19 College participating in the Eisenhower Series College Program for their outstanding20 accomplishments, does hereby recognize and record for posterity their vital contributions21 and their tireless dedication to military excellence, does hereby express enduring22 appreciation for the tremendous honor they bring to the citizens of Louisiana upon their visit23 in April of 2012, does hereby sincerely welcome them to Louisiana, and does hereby extend24 to them best wishes for continued success in all of their future endeavors.25 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that suitable copies of this Resolution be transmitted26 to Captain Stephen C. Krotow, Navy, director of the Eisenhower Series College Program;27 Lieutenant Colonel (P) Tony R.
