State Capitol A RESOLUTION1 To commend ExxonMobil and recognize Monday, March 19, 2012, as ExxonMobil Day at2 the Louisiana State Capitol.3 WHEREAS, it is with great pride and gratitude that the Louisiana House of4 Representatives commends ExxonMobil for the contributions its operations have made to5 the economy of the state of Louisiana and to the prosperity of its citizens; and6 WHEREAS, as one of the top employers in the state of Louisiana, ExxonMobil has7 more than eleven thousand employees, retirees, and contractors in Louisiana; ExxonMobil8 and XTO Energy have workers in nearly every corner of Louisiana, from the Haynesville9 Shale to the Chalmette refinery, and from Baton Rouge chemical plants to the deepwater of10 the Gulf of Mexico; and11 WHEREAS, ExxonMobil's engineers, scientists, skilled workers, and support staff12 in Louisiana have played crucial roles in shaping the energy and petrochemical industry for13 more than a century with revolutionary research innovations and technological14 breakthroughs; and15 WHEREAS, ExxonMobil and its thousands of employees and retirees take an active16 role in the betterment of the surrounding communities throughout Louisiana by providing17 tens of thousands of volunteer hours annually to numerous nonprofit organizations and local18 food banks as well as providing financial support to dozens of educational, environmental,19 cultural, and humanitarian groups through charitable contributions and matching grants; and20 HLS 12RS-1578 ORIGINAL HR NO. 5 Page 2 of 2 WHEREAS, ExxonMobil facilities in Louisiana are dedicated to operating in an1 environmentally responsible manner and have been recognized for their efforts as a recipient2 of numerous awards for their environmental leadership; and3 WHEREAS, ExxonMobil is committed to continuous improvement in the safety of4 its employees, contractors, and the community and its Louisiana facilities have been5 recognized by the Occupational Safety and Health Administration for their voluntary6 protection programs and safety performance; and7 WHEREAS, ExxonMobil's facilities in Louisiana represent substantial long-term8 investments and their operations retain existing and attract new jobs, provide tax revenue,9 spur economic growth, and help meet the world's growing energy needs; and10 WHEREAS, the success of the state of Louisiana, the strength of our communities,11 and the overall vitality of American society depend, in great measure, upon businesses like12 ExxonMobil, which is taking on the world's toughest energy challenges.13 THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the14 Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend ExxonMobil on more than a century of15 partnership and progress with Louisiana and does hereby recognize Monday, March 19,16 2012, as ExxonMobil Day at the Louisiana State Capitol.17 BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted18 to ExxonMobil's Louisiana Operations.19 DIGEST The digest printed below was prepared by House Legislative Services.
