ENROLLED Page 1 of 2 Regular Session, 2012 HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 57 BY REPRESENTATIVE JOHNSON A RESOLUTION To express sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the death of Marilynn Larson Bordelon of Bunkie. WHEREAS, it is with sincere regret and profound sorrow that the members of the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana have learned of the death of Marilynn Larson Bordelon on Wednesday, April 11, 2012, at the age of eighty-eight; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Bordelon was born in Chicago, moved to New Orleans with her family in 1932, and later resided in Marksville before moving to Bunkie; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Bordelon attended Louisiana State University, graduated from the University of Alabama with a degree in institutional management, and completed a dietetic internship at the University of Michigan; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Bordelon served the people of her state by being an active participant in her community as a member of Calvary Episcopal Church in Bunkie, member and past president of the Marksville Garden Club, member of the Louisiana Garden Club Federation, protocol chairman and past president of the Eighth District Flower Show Judges Council, past president of the Landscape Design Council, member of the Founding of Marksville Celebration committee in 1959, 1969, and 1979, and queen of the 1989 celebration, and past board member of Camp Hardtner; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Bordelon was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Filmore P. Bordelon, Jr.; two daughters, Marilynn "Lynn" Gilly and Margaret "Peggy" Waguespack; and her brother, Randon Larson; and WHEREAS, Mrs. Bordelon is survived by her daughter, Marjorie B. Melancon and husband, Danny; son, Filmore "Fil" Paul Bordelon III and wife, Sara; eight grandchildren, Leigh Gilly and wife, Lisa, Martin Gilly and wife, Mary Margaret, Andrew Gilly and wife, Brandy, Stuart Gilly and wife, Kim, Daniel Melancon and wife, Beth, David Melancon and ENROLLEDHR NO. 57 Page 2 of 2 wife, Meredith, Lori Broussard and husband, Michael, and Filmore "Paul" Bordelon IV and wife, Natalie; eleven great-grandchildren; and two nieces, Chris St. Clair and Marilynn Yeghiazarian; and WHEREAS, although the death of Mrs. Bordelon has left a tremendous void in her community, her memory shall live forever in the minds and hearts of all who loved her and had the pleasure of knowing her. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby express sincere and heartfelt condolences upon the death of Marilynn Larson Bordelon of Bunkie, does hereby record for posterity her outstanding accomplishments and singular contributions, and does hereby extend enduring appreciation for the tremendous pride and honor that this wonderful woman will forever bring to her family, friends, community, and state.
