HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 58
BY REPRESENTATIVE ORTEGO
A RESOLUTION
To commend Hunter Benoit of Beau Chene High School in St. Landry Parish for his many
outstanding accomplishments, including his election as governor of the state of
Louisiana at the 2011 session of Boys State.
WHEREAS, it is appropriate to commend and congratulate Hunter Benoit of Beau
Chene High School for his remarkable achievements and contributions; and
WHEREAS, the son of Darren and Paulette Benoit of Cankton, Hunter Benoit has
distinguished himself in numerous arenas, including attaining the high honor of being
elected governor of the state of Louisiana at Boys State, which was held from June 26
through July 2, 2011, at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches; and
WHEREAS, chosen as a delegate from St. Landry Parish, of the nearly five hundred
boys in attendance, Mr. Benoit was then chosen as a nominee for governor from the
Federalist Party; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Benoit demonstrated his unique skills and gifts throughout the
election process, including his ability to present exceptional extemporaneous speeches; and
WHEREAS, Hunter Benoit made history as the first governor of Boys State ever
elected from St. Landry Parish, and he was presented with a Certificate of Achievement for
this prestigious victory on behalf of the St. Landry Parish School Board; and
WHEREAS, Mr. Benoit was also part of the team which won first place in the
category of Emerging Business Issues at conferences of the Future Business Leaders of
America at both the district and state levels, and his team is competing at the national
conference in San Antonio in the summer of 2012; and
WHEREAS, in addition to these admirable achievements, Mr. Benoit also makes
significant contributions as a member of the Beau Chene High School Gators baseball team;

WHEREAS, the success of the state of Louisiana, the strength of our communities,
and the overall vitality of American society depend, in great measure, upon extraordinary
young men like Hunter Benoit; and
WHEREAS, Hunter Benoit is a talented student, athlete, and citizen with a maturity
of mind who demonstrates a commitment to excellence that is truly commendable.
THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the
Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Hunter Benoit of Beau Chene High School
in St. Landry Parish for his many outstanding accomplishments, including his election as
governor of the state of Louisiana at the 2011 session of Boys State, does hereby recognize
and record for posterity his singular contributions to his school, community, and state, does
hereby extend enduring appreciation for the tremendous pride and honor that he brings to
his family, friends, and community, St. Landry Parish, and the state of Louisiana, and does
hereby extend to him best wishes for continued success and happiness in his future
endeavors.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that a suitable copy of this Resolution be transmitted
to Hunter Benoit.
