ENROLLED Page 1 of 2 Regular Session, 2012 HOUSE RESOLUTION NO. 7 BY REPRESENTATIVE LEGER A RESOLUTION To commend Harry Lee Sluss of New Orleans on the occasion of his one hundred second birthday. WHEREAS, it is with great pride that the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana commends Harry Lee Sluss upon the momentous occasion of his one hundred second birthday; and WHEREAS, born on March 30, 1910, Mr. Sluss still attends church at Watson Memorial Teaching Ministry in New Orleans, where he enjoys singing; and WHEREAS, Mr. Sluss had six children with his first wife, the late Ethel Sluss, and has been married to Charline Sluss since 1984; and WHEREAS, Mr. Sluss is a builder and electrician licensed by the state of California; and WHEREAS, Mr. Sluss is an honorable citizen who takes pleasure in helping members of his community; and WHEREAS, the city of New Orleans is lucky to have an extraordinary man like Mr. Sluss, who is undoubtedly among the few centenarians who still sing and dance; and WHEREAS, Mr. Sluss merits a special measure of commendation for the tremendous pride and honor that he brings to the city of New Orleans, the state of Louisiana, and all who know and love him. THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED that the House of Representatives of the Legislature of Louisiana does hereby commend Harry Lee Sluss of New Orleans upon the momentous occasion of his one hundred second birthday, does hereby recognize and record the extraordinary life he has lived in the one hundred two years since his birth, does hereby extend enduring gratitude for the contributions he has made to his community and his family, and does hereby wish him full measures of happiness in the years to come.
