AN ACT1
To enact R.S. 32:412(K) and R.S. 40:1321(K), relative to veteran designation on a driver's2
license and identification card; to provide for the exhibition of the word "Veteran"3
on a driver's license and identification card; and to provide for related matters.4
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5
Section 1. R.S. 32:412(K) is hereby enacted to read as follows: 6
§412. Amount of fees; credit or refund; duration of license; veteran designation;7
disbursement of funds; renewal by mail or electronic commerce of8
Class "D" or "E" drivers' licenses; disposition of certain fees;9
exception10

K. Upon request, the word "Veteran" shall be exhibited in the color12
black below the person's photograph on the driver's license regardless of its13
class, upon presentation of a copy of the person's DD Form 214, issued by the14
United States Department of Defense or equivalent, as established by15
administrative rule. No additional fee shall be charged to include such16
designation. The deputy secretary of the Department of Public Safety and17
Corrections, public safety services, shall comply with the provisions of this18
Subsection. The deputy secretary of the Department of Public Safety and19
Corrections, public safety services, shall establish rules and regulations as are20
necessary to implement the provisions of this Subsection.21
Section 2. R.S. 40:1321(K) is hereby enacted to read as follows:22

§1321. Special identification cards; issuance; veteran designation; fees; expiration1
and renewal; exceptions; promulgation of rules; promotion of use;2
persons less than twenty-one years of age; the Protect and Save our3
Children Program; Selective Service Registration4
