AN ACT1
To enact R.S. 32:410(A)(6), relative to the form and information on a driver's license; to2
provide an option for a concealed handgun permit holder to include such permit3
number on his Louisiana driver's license; and to provide for related matters.4
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:5
Section 1. R.S. 32:410(A)(6) is hereby enacted to read as follows: 6
ยง410. Form of license; photograph, signature of licensee, anatomical gift statement,7
declaration of life-sustaining procedures, and additional information8
on license9

(6) Beginning January 1, 2013, the office of motor vehicles of the12
Department of Public Safety and Corrections shall provide a method to include13
the concealed handgun permit number issued to a permit holder pursuant to14
R.S. 40:1379.3 on such permit holder's application for a driver's license and the15
license issued as result of such application. Inclusion of the concealed handgun16
permit number on the permit holder's driver's license shall be solely at the17
option of such permit holder. If such concealed handgun permit holder opts to18
include his permit number on his driver's license, possession of such driver's19 SB NO. 166

license shall satisfy the requirement in R.S. 40:1379.3(B)(2) to possess such1
concealed handgun permit.2

DIGEST
Proposed law provides that beginning January 1, 2013, the office of motor vehicles of the
DPSC shall provide a method to include the concealed handgun permit number issued to a
permit holder pursuant to R.S. 40:1379.3 on such permit holder's application for a driver's
license and the license issued as result of such application.
Proposed law provides sole option to a concealed handgun permit holder to include his
permit number on his driver's license.
Proposed law provides that a driver's license which includes a concealed handgun permit
number satisfies the requirement to possess the concealed handgun permit in R.S.
40:1379.3(B)(2).
Effective August 1, 2012.
