AN ACT1
To amend and reenact R.S. 33:4574(B)(30), 4574.1.1(A)(30), 4574.2(E), and 4574.6,2
relative to the Tangipahoa Parish Tourist and Film Commission; to rename the3
commission; and to provide for related matters.4
Notice of intention to introduce this Act has been published.5
Be it enacted by the Legislature of Louisiana:6
Section 1. R.S. 33:4574(B)(30), 4574.1.1(A)(30), 4574.2(E), and 4574.6 are hereby7
amended and reenacted to read as follows: 8
§4574. Tourist commissions; creation; purpose; directors; powers9

B. Pursuant to Article VI, Sections 19 and 30 of the Constitution of11
Louisiana, the following commissions and bureaus, hereafter collectively referred12
to in this Chapter as "tourist commissions" or "commissions", are hereby specifically13
created as special districts or commissions. Each such commission shall be a body14
politic and corporate and a political subdivision of the state of Louisiana, composed15
of the following territory:16

(30) Tangipahoa Parish Tourist and Film Commission composed of all the18
territory in Tangipahoa Parish.19

A. For the purposes set forth in Paragraph (F)(3) of this Section, a1
commission created pursuant to R.S. 33:4574(B) is authorized to levy and collect a2
tax upon the occupancy of hotel rooms, motel rooms, and overnight camping3
facilities within the jurisdiction of the commission. Such tax shall not exceed the4
following percentages of the rent or fee charged for such occupancy:5

E. Notwithstanding the provisions of Subsection B of this Section, or of any11
other law to the contrary, but otherwise in accordance with the provisions of12
Subsection B, the Tangipahoa Parish Tourist and Film Commission may borrow13
money to construct a tourist information center on property leased by the14
commission from the parish provided that the funds are borrowed from a licensed15
financial institution, the loan is secured by a first mortgage upon the immovable16
property of the commission, the sum borrowed is less than the market value of the17
immovable property pledged as security for the loan, and the payments under such18
loan can be repaid out of the revenue anticipated from the tax authorized herein19
during the period in which the loan is to be repaid.20

§4574.6. Tangipahoa Parish Tourist and Film Commission; acquisition of property22
A. Notwithstanding any other provision of law to the contrary, the23
Tangipahoa Parish Tourist and Film Commission may acquire, purchase, and lease24
as lessee property, real, personal, or mixed, for carrying out the purposes of the25
commission and may sell, lease as lessor, transfer, and dispose of any property or26
interest therein at any time acquired by it. The title to all such property shall be taken27
in the name of the commission.28
B. Notwithstanding the provisions of R.S. 33:4574(F), the Tangipahoa Parish29

members appointed by the governing authority of the parish of Tangipahoa for terms1
of three years.2
